Raku Lamok sa Dulum

Macky Torrechilla

Ang tuod, raku lamok sa dulum.

Mabagrong sa talinga,

Nga daw gahani nga dya lang anay kita.

Kada dusu, hampak.

Gabiti ang panit sa kalinung kang gabii.

“Duro lamok,” hambal na.

Nagbutwa ako anay kag magsabat kana,

“Gani!”

Ti kundi nagdunglay.

Ano kara ay,

Hala akun nga supsup, amo man anda nga suyup.

Lots of mosquitoes in the dark

The truth is, there’s a lot of mosquitoes in the  dark.

Buzzing in my ears,

as if whispering to just stay here.

For every deep strike is a smash.

The sound of skin and skin reverberates

against the silence of the night.

“Lots of mosquitoes,” he said.

I resurfaced and replied,

“Indeed!”

Then it softened.

How can it not?

For as I suck there, mosquitoes also suck.
