Michael Thomas Nelmida

Like the foolish lover Orpheus, Michael Thomas Nelmida weaves poems about despair and has been waiting for the return of his Muse.

He is currently the director of Sangay Salamin sa KADIPAN at the Philippine Normal University in Manila, where he studies. He plans to become a licensed translator before he graduates. He believes that school is a prison.

He wants to become a lawyer (This is just one of his many ambitions). He has a pet fish, Marina.

He aspires to publish a book this year.

Where I'm From

Hindi ko alam, kung saan ako nagsimula.

Doon siguro ako magsisimula.

Hindi ko alam, kung ano ang simula.

Doon siguro ako nagsimula.

Hindi ko alam, san ako nagmula.

Doon ako naniniwala.

Hindi ko alam, kung saan, ako dapat

magtiwala.

Doon ako naghihinala.

Laging nasa kawalan,

hinihintay matagpuan.

I don't know, where I began.

Perhaps I’ll start there.

I don’t know, what the beginning is.

Perhaps that’s where I began.

I don’t know, where I came from.

That’s what I believe.

I don't know, where, I must

trust.

That’s what I doubt.

Always in nothingness,

waiting to be found.
