Terramycin

Steno Padilla

Ganito pala
ang maalagaan kapag
dama ng katawan
ang sakit ng
kalingkingan.
Hawak mo ang
hinliliit ko habang
nilalagyan ng
Terramycin, at
saka babalutan
ng kulay-dilaw
na Band-Aid para
hindi lumala.

Takot ka pala sa
dugo, pero ‘di ka
nag-alangang
ako ay hawakan
at hilumin ang
munting sugat
na kusa namang
gagaling kahit pa
‘di ka mag-abala.
Nariyan ka
at nakaagapay
kahit pa sa
maliliit na bagay.

Ganito pala
kasayang mahiwa
sa takip ng de-latang
Argentina
corned beef. Sarap
ng baka’y wala
kung ikukumpara
sa iyong aruga;
‘di hamak na
mas malinamnam
ang iyong hawak
sa aking kamay
na may sugat.

Terramycin

So this is how it is

to be cared for when

the body feels

the pain of

the pinky finger.

You are holding

my finger while

applying

Terramycin, and

then you’ll wrap it in

a yellow-colored

Band-Aid so it

won’t get worse.

So, you’re scared of

blood, but you didn’t

hesitate

to touch me

and heal the

small wound

that would’ve

healed on its own even if

you didn’t bother.

You are there

beside me

even in

the little things.

So this is how

happy it feels to be cut

by the cover of canned

Argentina

corned beef. The deliciousness

of beef is nothing

compared

to your care;

far more

delectable

is your touch

on my hand

that is wounded.
